About this Project
Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital is a non-profit community-based hospital that is renowned for its commitment to delivering high-quality medical services. The healthcare center provides a wide array of medical, surgical, and psychiatric services, including complete emergency, outpatient, and diagnostic care. The owner wanted to upgrade the air handler unit that fed into the operating room, as it was outdated.
TG Gallagher performed the HVAC upgrade, incorporating prefabricated piping systems for hot water, chilled water, and steam. To ensure uninterrupted hospital operations, the team installed temporary piping and ducts to facilitate the replacement of the air handling unit. In addition, TGG coordinated shutdowns with subcontractors and scheduled off-hour shifts, minimizing any impact on the functioning operating rooms.
The project presented a safety challenge related to the side loading of the AHU sections. The TGG Safety and Project team worked with the rigger to devise a pick plan for crane activities. Despite these logistical hurdles, the project proved to be a success, and Faulkner Hospital expressed gratitude for the seamless process.
