TG Gallagher installed new HVAC systems at Foundry Parcel O, utilizing prefabrication techniques to increase efficiency and safety.

About this Project

Parcel O, a nine-story, 250,000-square-foot life science building in Boston’s Seaport District, is notable for its hybrid electrification of space heating. The facility’s use of air-source heat pumps significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional heating methods.

TG Gallagher installed the HVAC systems for the building’s core and shell, including fuel oil, condenser water, heating hot water, chilled water, and an energy recovery system. To enhance efficiency, the team prefabricated carbon steel piping, pump skids, hangers, strongbacks, and the energy recovery skid. The safety team created a rigging plan and supervised all crane operations to ensure safe and smooth execution throughout the project.

Effective collaboration with John Moriarty & Associates, a general contractor they had rarely worked with before, contributed to the project’s success. After completion, multiple floors were leased to Ginkgo Bioworks, who subsequently awarded TG Gallagher an HVAC contract for the fit-out.
